Breaking The Illusion first made a name for himself in the Leeds Hip Hop scene. During that time, BTI (solo artist, Tom Stewart) has gone onto receive acclaim, for his work not only on Breaking The Illusion but as a writer and producer.
Across an ever-expanding career, Breaking The Illusion has supported the likes of Ice T, Plan B, Lily Allen, The Roots and KRS1, putting an emphasis on being as exciting live as he is in the studio. This has led to storming sets at both Glastonbury and Latitude festival. The live show has even been lauded by the likes of the BBC who presented the band with a Best Live Performance (RAW TALENT) and ‘Album of the week’ (Huw Stephens).
Memorable motifs, thumping drums and winding bass lines wrap themselves around biting versus that, in their creator’s own words, are there to break the illusion of what the limits of a genre are. He goes on to say that ‘there’s much more to life than drugs, guns, money and murder’ (most notably vocalised on ‘DMMK’) ‘and my aim is to unite great songs, great music and a greater outlook on everything’.
